Closing the Gap Between Gender Equality and Development

Although girls and women have made great gains in some aspects of gender equality, gaps still remain in key dimensions of gender equality and their impact on development as addressed in the 2012 World Development Report. Gender Equality and Development focuses on four main areas of needed improvement, including closing education gaps, increasing women's economic opportunities, increasing women's voice in society, and limiting the cycle of gender inequality for future generations. There is a need in international community efforts to bring positive actions towards the four priority areas.
