Framework to Assess Global Competence in PISA 2018
In May 2016, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) revealed its proposal for assessing young people’s understanding of global issues and attitudes towards cultural diversity and tolerance. The assessment, to be included in the 2018 Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA), would involve a test of 15-year-olds in about 80 countries, taken alongside separate tests in reading, mathematics and science. A questionnaire would analyze students’ attitudes, such as openness, respect for others and responsibility, as well as the value they place on human dignity and cultural diversity.
