ACEI Welcomes New Country Liaison for Fiji

ACEI is excited to welcome Lavinia Tiko as a Country Liaison representing the nation of Fiji. 

Lavinia Tiko is a senior lecturer and coordinator for the University of the South Pacific’s early childhood education and care program.

Previously, she was an education psychology and pedagogies lecturer at Lautoka Teachers College, now Fiji National University, and served as a senior early childhood education officer at the Fiji Ministry of Education.

Tiko has considerable experience teaching in primary education and has published many articles about indigenous education and culture, holistic early childhood education, policy development, and teacher education practice.

Tiko holds a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education and a graduate diploma in educational leadership from Waikato University, a master’s degree in early childhood education from the University of London’s Institute of Education, and a doctorate in child psychology from the University of New England in Australia. In addition, Tiko holds a certificate in early childhood education and special education from the Fiji College of Advanced Education, now Fiji National University.
