In 1999 NCATE appointed a Transition Team comprised of representatives of the Elementary Standards Drafting Committee, the Specialty Area Studies Board, and the Association for Childhood Education International to develop a set of rubrics to be used by reviewers of Elementary Education Specialty Programs. The Team used these rubrics with the first pilot programs for the new Elementary Standards and refined them to be used by ACEI in the review process. With the development of the New Review Template 2004, the rubrics were revised.
The information that follows is intended to make institutions aware of the Rubrics, which are used by the ACEI Programs Reviewers when conducting their review of the institution's Elementary Education Program.
A new worksheet was added in 2004 to provide the reviewers with guidance for the New Report Template. This is the Program Reviewer Worksheet for assessment of Evidence Provided in a Program Report, which is used to verify which elements (of the Program Report) have been found acceptable or unacceptable.
Findings from the Review Report on Association Standards Summarized are given below. This is the response that an institution will receive following the review of its program.
