Information You Submit to Us
We collect information submitted to us from our members and others who have completed a transaction with the organization (i.e., membership, book order, conference registration, etc.). Some of the information that you provide to us may be personally identifiable information, or information that can be uniquely identified with you, such as your name, school/company name, address, e-mail address, phone number or member number.
Information We Collect Automatically
We may automatically record your telephone number when you call us and your e-mail address when you correspond with us by e-mail. This information may be collected in our database for future reference.
We receive and store certain types of information whenever you interact with us.
Use and Disclosure of Your Information
We may use information collected from you to provide information to you, to determine what services to provide to our members, to improve the content of our services and our website, and for marketing and research purposes. We may combine your personally identifiable information with other information we collect or with information we obtain from third parties.
Unless we tell you otherwise at the point of collection, we will not disclose your personally identifiable information to anyone else without your consent, except under the following circumstances:
- If you register for a program, purchase book items, or sign up for housing for a conference, these services are sometimes handled by an outside processing center. This information is held in a confidential relationship between ACEI and the processing center.
- To our agents and service partners that assist us in fulfilling our mission to our members and users of our website. Examples include entities that fulfill orders, send postal mail or e-mails, perform research or analyze data, provide marketing assistance, organize educational events, provide educational materials/services, or provide customer service. In such cases, we provide access to personally identifiable information necessary to perform their functions, but restrict them from using it for any other purpose and require them to maintain its confidentiality.
- When required by law or order of a court or governmental agency, or compelled by subpoena.
- In addition, ACEI may also provide limited data to third parties that offer products and services. These limited data include names, job titles, companies and addresses. Users may request ACEI refrain from disclosing the data it collects to third parties by contacting ACEI at 800-423-3563 to express their preferences.
Access to Your Information
You may review and update the personally identifiable information we maintain about you by contacting us. Members also can access certain items specific to their member accounts and may make changes as needed.
Opting Out of Communications
ACEI sends newsletters and other information and offers to its members and customers via e-mail. At any time, you may reply to the e-mail and ask to unsubscribe. If you continue to receive e-mails from ACEI after you have unsubscribed, please contact us.
Security of Information
ACEI is fully committed to data security. We work to protect the security of your information during transmission by using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) software, which encrypts information you input. We have put in place physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information you provide to us online.
Children's Online Information Policy
We do not knowingly collect, maintain, or use personal information about children under the age of 13. If a person under the age of 13 sends personal information to ACEI either by the website or other communication means, we will only use that information to notify the child's parents or to seek parental consent.
Links to Other Websites
Disclosing information through online social media such as Facebook, listservs, discussion forums, Twitter, etc., makes the information that is submitted public information. Disclosure of your personally identifiable information may increase your chance of receiving unsolicited e-mail. We are not responsible for any information posted on social media.
