State of the Association
Dear ACEI Members:
At the recent ACEI gathering held in Washington, D.C., in April, I was able to deliver a brief State of the Association address. This address is delivered every year at our spring event. ACEI has a tradition of communicating information about the association through this address, and through our membership newsletter, the ACEI Exchange. Our Board Presidents and committee chairs write columns in the Exchange to keep members up-to-date about association events and changes. For those of you who were not able to be with us in Washington, or may have missed information in the Exchange, I am writing this letter to expand the delivery of our communications and ensure that we keep you fully up-to-date on ACEI news. There are exciting new movements occurring for ACEI and we want you to share in our excitement and join with us on our journey.
I am very pleased to report that the association is strong and primed for future growth. We have made great progress over the last few years in shaping ACEI to meet the demands of the fast-moving association environment of today. We are financially stable and have been able to make operational improvements during this period of development while retaining our financial assets. When I came to ACEI, I was asked by the Board of Directors to do several things: fully internationalize the association; strengthen existing programs and design new ones; ensure effective operations; and expand ACEI's reach to include new members, supporters, and partners. I believe we have made gains in all four areas. As a part of ensuring effective operations and expanding our reach, I was asked to return the Headquarters Office to Washington, D.C., which we accomplished in October 2012. We are now located about three blocks north of the White House. Coincidentally, this is only one block from where ACEI's first office was located in 1924.

I would like to thank you for your support of ACEI during this period of development. As the environment for organizations today is one of constant motion, we must be flexible and proactively seek opportunities for growth. Please know that we value your participation, past and present, and hope to create for you an active and vibrant association based on the traditions of ACEI while moving us toward new horizons. Indeed, the world has changed and we must change with it, but always with our mission and values serving as the guiding light for action.
