Journal of Research in Childhood Education – CALL FOR MANUSCRIPTS
About Journal of Research in Childhood Education
The Journal of Research in Childhood Education, the quarterly research journal of the Association for Childhood Education International (ACEI), focuses on children’s learning and development from birth through age 13, the childhood years.
Each issue includes peer-reviewed research studies on:
- Child growth and development theory
- Innovative classroom practices
- Innovative education programs
- Timely and vital issues affecting education, children, and their families.
We are seeking articles from around the world that advance knowledge and theory of the education of children, infancy through early adolescence. Consideration is given to reports of empirical research, theoretical articles, ethnographic and case studies, participant observation studies, and studies deriving data collected from naturalistic settings. We are particularly interested in cross-cultural studies and those addressing international concerns.
The Journal seeks to stimulate the exchange of research ideas by publication of small-scale studies carried out in a variety of settings (homes, centers, classrooms, hospitals, and other community environments), and whose results are reported where appropriate with the inclusion of effect size information.
Authors should include an abstract, and manuscripts should not exceed 30 pages total, including all tables, appendixes, notes, and references.
Our Readers
Our readers are teacher educators and education researchers in universities around the world. They are interested in the latest education research concerning the development and education of children from birth through age 13.
Successful Articles
ACEI’s publishing program strives to support the Association’s mission, which is to promote children’s education and development, and influence educators’ professional growth. Manuscripts are judged according to how well they reflect our mission (see our mission statement).
In addition, successful articles:
- Reflect the most current knowledge in the related field
- Recognize the importance of family and community involvement in education and child care
- Show respect for and support inclusion of all children, regardless of nationality, ethnicity, gender, religion, age, or ability.
Authors may provide supporting tables, charts, and graphs) to enhance clarity and promote understanding.
Editing
It is recommended that prior to submission, you review your article very carefully. Often, it helps to have a colleague read over your article and, when possible, your article should be professionally edited. Although we do review articles and prepare them for publication, we assume that all manuscripts submitted will arrive in almost print-ready condition.
While the views expressed in ACEI publications are not necessarily those of the Association membership at large, we do edit for adherence to ethical and style standards. ACEI seeks to reduce bias in language, following the guidelines established in the American Psychological Association’s Publication Manual (6th edition). We also seek to maintain high ethical standards in terms of publication credit. Finally, as ACEI is an international and inclusive organization, we avoid content and language that may be construed as biased toward any one nation, religion, socioeconomic group, race, or gender.
