Membership
Our members are dedicated to a flexible, child-centered approach to education, in which the child's developmental experiences at home, in school and in the community are respected. This philosophy is reflected in all of ACEI's professional programs including publications, Web site, and conferences. ACEI also conducts effective advocacy to ensure that ACEI positions are represented in a variety of public forums and major coalitions for children and education.
We invite you to become a member of ACEI.
WHY JOIN ACEI?
When you join the Association for Childhood Education International you support and promote a global community dedicated to the optimal education and development of children, from infancy through middle childhood. Your membership helps strengthen ACEI's ability to influence the professional growth of educators and the efforts of others who are committed to the needs of children in a changing society.
Joining ACEI also benefits you professionally and personally. Here is just a sampling of the many benefits that will be available to you as an ACEI Member.
AWARD-WINNING PUBLICATIONS
- Childhood Education-- Professional, Student, Retired, and Comprehensive memberships include a subscription to ACEI's award-winning official journal. Comprehensive in scope, Childhood Education presents authoritative articles to augment your classroom skills and improve communication with administrators, parents and colleagues. Each issue includes articles showing the connections between children's learning experiences in school, home, and community, and their reactions to the learning environment you create. Departments and features keep you fully informed on all ACEI positions, the latest publications for professionals and children, and reviews of the latest children's books, videos, software and education related research. An $84 value, you will receive six issues with your paid Professional, Student, Retired, or Comprehensive membership dues. Note: Basic membership does not include this publication.
- ACEI Exchange Newsletter-- Professional, Student, Retired, and Comprehensive memberships include a subscription to the Association's newsletter. Each issue gives you the latest news, including ACEI initiatives, announcements of ACEI grants and awards, conference and special event calendars, reports from local, state and international affiliates, and updates by the ACEI Executive Director and President. Most issues feature a special pullout section of practical, ready-to-use classroom ideas and tips. ACEI Exchange culls the best from the stream of educational publications and resource materials to save you time and money. As a Professional, Student, Reitred, or Comprehensive member you'll receive five issues conveniently bound within the covers of Childhood Education. Note: Basic members receive this newsletter as a separate publication.
- Journal of Research in Childhood Education-- ACEI's other major scholarly journal. Every issue presents the latest scientific theory and research results on the development and education of children from infancy through early adolescence. This quarterly journal is included with Comprehensive membership. All other members save $40 off the regular subscription rate.
- Professional Materials, Books and Brochures-- ACEI publishes more than 100 books, special publications, position papers and compilations in print, audio and video formats. Recent topics include: how children learn to read and write, attention and activity differences in children, and the importance of play in all stages of development. ACEI also offers a series of ACEI Speaks brochures, designed for a parent audience, on such topics as kindergarten, multiage classrooms, dyslexia, AD(H)D, inclusion, safety in cyberspace, portfolio assessment and whole language. Members receive early notice of new publications and enjoy discounts of up to 50%. Shipping is free on all prepaid orders.
ACEI publications provide you with greater insight into children at any developmental stage. One of the greatest challenges in teaching lies in dealing with the wide range of differences among children in their total development, past experiences, needs, aspirations, motivations and perceptions of themselves and others. ACEI publications can make you a more effective teacher and will broaden your effectiveness with parents and colleagues.
GLOBAL NETWORKS
- Discounts on Conference Registration-- As an ACEI member, you will be invited to attend the Annual International Conference & Exhibition, which features over 200 concurrent presentations by leading educators from around the world.

They seek to gather information and support the best developmental practices for all areas of learning--language, physical, cognitive, social, and emotional--helping children tap into their full potential as individuals and as contributing members of the global and local community.
Your ACEI affiliation provides more than internationally acclaimed professional publications, outstanding member services and benefits, and a century of steadfast advocacy for children. ACEI members hold a special respect for children, and each other. Together, we promote childhood education that is focused on each child's natural abilities and environmental influences at home, in school, and in the community.
We support the idea (in all of our member benefits, advocacy activities, and professional development programs) that education is a dynamic process between the educator and the whole child. Together, we can provide the collective voice (there is strength in numbers) in support of childhood education, everywhere!
Because you are a dedicated and concerned educator, we know that you care about the state of today's education system. Identification as an ACEI Member, coupled with the added skill and knowledge obtained through ACEI professional publications and programs, gives you the edge in helping children and advancing your career. It pays to belong to ACEI!
