ACEI INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT FUND AWARD
Introduction and Application
In 1995 the Executive Board established the International Development
Fund (IDF) as a special purpose, restricted fund and in 1996, ACEI
made an initial deposit of $10,000. Accrued interest will be
used to promote ACEI Branches outside of the United States. The
principal of the IDF remains intact indefinitely. This guarantees
that the program will sustain itself in the years to come.
The IDF was established to provide money, each year, to ACEI members
wanting to start or revitalize a Branch outside the US. Successful
applicants must demonstrate potential for Branch development and
growth. All activities that the Branch engages in using IDF grant
money must be in full support of ACEI's mission and philosophy and
should also serve to attract new members.
Completed applications should be sent to ACEI Headquarters by March 15, along
with any supporting documentation. To be considered for a grant, an applicant
must submit to ACEI Headquarters an official Branch charter, list of officers,
and a list of other Branch members. These materials can be submitted at the same
time that you mail your IDF application. If you need help, contact ACEI Headquarters
for a Branch Start-Up Kit and sample Branch Constitution. Upon acceptance
as a Branch, an Annual Branch Report and Branch Budget Worksheet must also be
filed by all Branches, including new Branches, by June 1st of each year.
The ACEI Executive Board will determine which applicants will be awarded an IDF
grant. Grants may be made up to $1,000. Applicants will be notified in
May. For those Branches selected to receive a grant, payment will be made by check.
Criteria for Evaluating Proposals
A committee made up of members of the Executive Board will determine the
recipients of the International Development Fund (IDF) award(s) each year. The
purpose of the IDF award is Branch development. The following criteria will be
used to evaluate the proposals:
- How does the proposal show that the applicant knows ACEI?
- What contacts does the applicant have to recruit potential members in order
to successfully start or revitalize a Branch?
- How many people can potentially benefit from this proposal?
- How will information about ACEI be disseminated to potential members?
- Is there collaboration indicated within the proposal?
- What contribution (in-kind or financial) to this proposed project will the
author/branch/group provide?
- Is a timeline included? Is it workable?
- What is special about this proposal?
- If ACEI selected another proposal, what would ACEI miss by not selecting
this proposal?
- How is this proposal consistent with ACEI's mission?
