Call to Action: Education for All

Young leaders from all around the world will convene in New York City, USA, from 11-12 July 2013, as a call to action, demanding that global leaders provide education for all the world's children, particularly girls. As part of the two-day event, on 12 July, Malala Yousafzai will also make her first public statement to the United Nations on the importance of education.

The 12th of July is Malala Yousafzai's 16th birthday and has been designated as Malala Day. Malala passionately believes in a girl's right to education and was attacked in 2012 for going to school in pursuit of her dream to be a doctor. Malala Day is not intended to be a day about Malala; it is an opportunity for young people around the world to have an impact on ensuring education for all.

The UN's Global Education First Initiative is hosting the two-day event. The young world leaders will present a resolution to the United Nations outlining their call to action.
