FINANCIAL CONTRIBUTIONS TO ACEI DEVELOPMENT FUNDS

"ACEI has benefited countless children and helped thousands of professionals, like you, become better, more informed teachers. You can help to make ACEI a stronger, even more dynamic organization by contributing to our Development Funds."

--Jerry Odland, Executive Director

ACEI Mission Statement

The purpose of this organization internationally shall be:

To promote the inherent rights, education, and well being of children in home, school and community.

. . . ACEI Constitution

One of the best ways you can support the Association for Childhood Education International is to send a financial contribution. Your contribution enables us to support teachers and education students through the funds indicated below. Thank you for your generous support. ACEI is a not-for-profit charitable education organization. Contributions are tax-deductible for Federal Income Tax purposes to the maximum level provided by law.

ACEI Development Funds

ACEI currently has seven development funds or accounts set up to receive cash donations. These accounts are restricted in terms of how the money can be used to further the important work of the Association. In most cases, only the accrued interest can be expended without the prior approval of the Executive Board. The proceeds from this fundraiser will be used to further the goals and purposes of the Association for Childhood Education International.

Anyone wishing to make contributions to ACEI can specify which fund(s) they want to donate to. Your gift will be acknowledged in writing. This is an excellent way to honor or remember a friend or colleague who has had a profound influence on your life. ACEI's development funds are as follows:

General Endowment Fund
This fund is comprised of gifts in varying amounts from individuals or groups given to commemorate an individual, living or deceased. The principal is kept intact and invested for the future benefit of ACEI. Only the interest can be used for the usual work of the Association.

Honor Roll
Actually part of the General Endowment Fund, gifts to this fund are made to recognize a deceased individual who served ACEI with distinction and contributed significantly to the betterment of children. If the name of the commemorated individual is approved by the Executive Board, his or her name is added to ACEI's prestigious Roll of Honor and that person's service to children is recorded in the Book of Remembrance.

Student Scholarship Fund--
Your contribution to the Student Scholarship Fund helps make it possible for ACEI to award two $300 Elizabeth Breathwaite Student Leadership Awards each year to recognize the accomplishments of outstanding ACEI student members.

Lucile Lindberg Laser Writer Fund
A special commemorative fund, established after the death of Dr. Lucile Lindberg, outstanding ACEI leader and internationally renowned educator, to purchase computer equipment for ACEI Headquarters in her name.

Centennial Fund
This development fund was originally set up to receive gifts in the name of ACEI's "Century Club" to commemorate the Association's first 100 years of service to children. The money was used to foster the development of the 1992 Centennial Celebration in Saratoga Springs, NY, and to publish three commemorative books. Today, money in the Centennial Fund is reserved for projects of historical significance to the Association.

Celebration of the Classroom Teacher Fund
Hand in hand with ACEI's Week of the Classroom Teacher, this fund was set up in 1992 to receive gifts ($100 minimum) from individuals or local, state or province ACEI Branches to honor one or more special teachers. Persons so honored are officially recognized for their outstanding contribution to children and to education. Also their name and the name(s) of the person(s) presenting the gift to the Association are published in the ACEI Exchange. Money donated to the Celebration of the Classroom Teacher Fund is used to promote ACEI Branch development.

International Membership Fund
This fund, ACEI's newest gift fund, was initiated in 1995. ACEI members can make a contribution, in any amount, to the International Membership Fund via their annual dues renewal notice. Of course, donations at any time are always welcome, i.e., you don't have to wait until you pay your membership dues to make a contribution. Money given to ACEI, earmarked for this fund, is used to provide gift memberships and/or subscriptions to ACEI publications to educators residing outside the U.S.

Donations, of course, are also sought to help meet general operating expenses, e.g., printing, purchase of computer equipment for Headquarters, or to fund key program areas such as conferences and workshops; publications; membership development and retention; or special programs like the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education and the Alliance for Curriculum Reform. This is still another way to contribute to your professional Association and in doing so, help to ensure its prosperity and future success on behalf of children.
