The Headquarters office is open weekdays throughout the year from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Eastern Time (except for national holidays).
The Association is a self-supporting, nonprofit corporation chartered under an Act of Congress, March 3, 1901. Income is received primarily from dues of members, conference fees, royalties, sale of publications, and interest and dividends from unrestricted funds, set up in the Standing Rules of the ACEI Constitution.
ACEI's activities are directed by an Executive Board composed of seven elected officer--the President, the Vice-President representing Infancy & Early Childhood and the Vice President representing Middle Childhood & Early Adolescence, a Past President or President Elect, two At-Large Members, a Secretary, and the Executive Director, appointed by the Executive Board. The Executive Director supervises and coordinates the work of the Headquarters Staff in carrying out the decisions of the Executive Board.
ACEI Branches form the backbone of the Association. Uniting as they do, those in their local communities concerned for the education and well being of children and those who work with children ACEI Branches put into practice the purposes and mission of ACEI. As groups and as individual members they are responsible for formulating the plans for and implementing Association activities. Their efforts are further strengthened through State and Province Associations that are organized to coordinate the concerns and interests of members and Branches on a broader scale.
ACEI is all member--as individuals, as local, State and Province Branches--expressing at the national and international levels a philosophy of education which is flexible and responsive to human needs in an ever-changing world.
