ACEI Upcoming Conference Schedule

We appreciate the commitment of the many who have attended ACEI conferences, traditionally held on an annual basis. Today, we have a variety of innovative ways to consider for delivering content information and connecting with members and supporters. We also must carefully consider the timelines for event scheduling.  Some associations have opted for online formats, such as webinars, that they deliver on a regular basis, some even monthly, while others have opted for rotating cycles of events that vary in terms of format and focus.

This year, ACEI presented a Global Summit on Childhood. Although this was a change from the annual conference style typically presented by ACEI, we were still able to enjoy the many ACEI sessions that are usually included in the annual conference event. In addition, the Global Summit included more international sessions to align more closely with ACEI’s global mission, and delegates from over 70 nations were in attendance. By all accounts, the Global Summit was a successful event that helped to broaden the dialogue on critical issues that impact the lives of children.

Since ACEI has also designed and adopted a new initiative, the Decade for Childhood, 2012-2022, the Executive Board has opted to offer Summits on Childhood throughout the Decade. This will provide continuity to the discussions on childhood and hopefully provide continuity for relationship building and collegial networking as well. We look forward to the next Summit, which is being planned for 2014.

In the spring of 2013, ACEI will present a second Institute for International Education Diplomacy. We hope that you will engage with us in this event. At the institute, we will also offer time for ACEI member meetings as done with typical annual conference formats. Although the institute has a more intensive focus on internationally relevant education issues, innovations, and advocacy, we will also issue a call for proposals in areas such as comparative education and education of diverse populations. We look forward to your participation in this exciting new ACEI program. Please be on the lookout for a call for proposals to be released this summer.

Therefore, the events for the next two years will consist of an Institute in 2013 and a second Global Summit in 2014. Locations and exact dates for both the Institute and the Global Summit are currently being determined; we hope to have this information to you soon. We appreciate your support as we make adjustments to ACEI programming that will make us a more effective and efficient association with meeting events that offer an even greater contribution towards achieving our mission.
